The artist book ‘Unite,’ produced on the conceptual framework of the Book-As-Work (Yapıt Kitap) exhibition, curated by esteemed graphic designer Umut Altıntaş and opening on October 30th at Hayy Open Space, focuses on the theme of ‘unit.’
Reflecting a two-month dialogue with academician Orhun Doğuş Yılmaz, who served as the information theory consultant for the concept of ‘unit,’ the book explores four subjects – object, space, time, and subject – using the autocopy printing technique.
These four subjects are autocopied according to their degrees of meaning, transmitting images produced by the graphic designer with ASCII pixel units to their layers.
Starting with a foreword by academician Orhun D. Yılmaz, the book produces 40 copies, each its own unit, occupying a standard seating area covered by a single reader.
